Gurvir Johal

Photography has always been about people for me. It's the relationships, emotions and fleeting moments between people that have always drawn me in.
What I love most about my Nikon equipment is the confidence it gives me to focus on what matters most: storytelling.
Gurvir builds his photography on observation, anticipation and a deep respect for the stories that unfold in front of his lens. Raised with strong family values and cultural traditions, he’s learned to notice the small, meaningful moments at weddings — a quiet exchange between parents, spontaneous laughter among friends, rituals carried through generations — and to preserve them honestly while creating portraits couples will treasure for a lifetime.
His relationship with Nikon began nearly 20 years ago with an entry-level Nikon DSLR bought out of curiosity. As his craft and career developed, he progressed naturally through the Nikon system; today he relies on the Nikon Z8 and Nikon Zf as his primary bodies. He pairs those cameras with a versatile set of NIKKOR Z lenses, the NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S for intimate, tactile portraits, the NIKKOR Z 24–70mm f/2.8 S for documentary coverage and environmental frames, and the NIKKOR Z 70–200mm f/2.8 VR S when he needs reach and compression.
The reliability, low‑light performance and responsiveness of the Z series let Gurvir stay fully present with his couples, confident that every emotional detail and once‑in‑a‑lifetime moment will be captured precisely, even in the most challenging conditions.
